Dun Dun DunDun!!! The Too Faced Country Palette!
It's glorious, isn't it?
I was so excited that I opened it up in the car to look.
So, ultimately, this is what you get when you buy this palette.
So, here's the thing. I have heard SO MANY mixed reviews about this palette. The color payoff is meh, the shadows aren't that nice, it's too sheer, I don't like it blah blah blah. My suspicions that these people were simply mot a fan of more gentle looks seems to be correct. I myself am a bit of a plain Jane and love gentle delicate pastels. So I had this intense draw to this palette and HAD to have it. There was no convincing Will that this should be my anniversary present... so I got it for myself. I do believe he is getting me pearl earrings? But he's very good at lurking on all of my pages... so I won't tell you guys what I got him until he already has it in his hands. But, without further ado... The colors and swatches.
The swatched colors go top to bottom and left to right.
Cowboy Take Me Away is the first one and it is a very light, matte pink. Like a baby lotion pink. It doesn't show up well in the picture, but once you have it on your face, you'll see that it's a very sweet cotton candy pink that's great for highlighting.
The next color is Famous in a Small Town and it is a sheer white color with a rosy satin finish. This one is actually one of my favorites. It's good for highlighting beneath your brows and in the corners of your eyes, as well as blending the lighter colors together.
All American Girl is a silvery grey shimmer, but it is very sheer and doesn't have a great color payoff. Now, that lack of color isn't because the shadow is crappy, it's because the shadow is meant to be an accent. It's a delicate shimmer with a satin finish, again, for highlighting.
The next two are possibly my favorites of the whole palette because, as a green eyed redhead, pinks and golds are my Nirvana. Y'all is the most controversial shadow I have heard about in reviews. People have a Love Hate relationship with it. Why? Because it is fallout city. But not on YOU, on the palette. It is a bronzey rose gold color with shimmers and a satin finish. It's delicate and neutral and oh so very pretty. I can't wait to wear this one.
Paper Roses is, in my opinion, the most beautiful color in the whole palette and I wish they would have given me a BIG allotment of that one instead of All American Girl, honestly. But I digress. It is beautiful. It's a satin finish pink, but not like Cowboy. No. This one is rosey and eye popping without being neon. The shimmer in it is on the rose gold side of the spectrum giving this a real down south beauty look to it. This is the shadow that screams Southern Belle and takes me away to the days I love to spend hot rodding and jamming to country music in my Step-Mother-In-Law's '60 Chevy Apache. It's just beautiful and feminine, but without being too understated like Cowboy.
Nashville is next in the palette. At first it looks like a slate blue, but on skin, it is a little bit different. It comes out as more of a cool indigo with rose gold and silver satin finish. It really lends to create a very unique color because it all depends on how the light hits it. Either way, this is one of the coolest tones in the palette.
Dolly is one of the more interesting colors. When I first saw it, I thought it was that beautiful deep plum that I love, but it turned out to be SO MUCH more. First and foremost, it is a deep matte brown with plum undertones. But then, it has little gold glitter shimmers that sit on top... so even though it has a matte finish, you still get a teeny tiny hit of glitter. It is the perfect accent color.
Rhinestone was also unusual and turned out to be something it didn't look like. It looked like a grey purple, but came out a bit different. It is actually a much warmer tone than expected and walks the line of being a muter plum. It has an in between finish, if you know what I mean, not quite matte, not quite satin. I don't know what to call it. But this is a warm plum color with brown undertones and silver glitters in it. Again, the glitter is very understated, like in Dolly.
Last we have Bluebird. This one was the most intimidating one for me because I simply do not know how to wear blue shadow. It was a relief to see that it was actually a very tasteful and muted color on skin. It is clearly a blue, but it walks close to indigo with cool purple undertones and a satin finish. The way it reflects light almost reminds me of a peacock feather, just not in some obnoxious color. It certainly is a statement color (in my opinion), but it isn't so scary.
Now, this is my first Too Faced Palette... I will certainly be trying more of them if I love this as much as I think I will. The colors all have excellent staying power and are fucking beautiful. They're very creamy and easy to apply, but if you don't keep an eye on Y'all it will make your palette dirty quickly and it is white after all. But overall, I am very excited to start using this palette more and get to know it. I will update with pictures of it being worn.
They provided a cute little guide that I am not likely to follow, but here is what you can expect to see when you open up the palette.
Even if we don't use them, I really appreciate these because it makes a high end palette beginner friendly because we all need to pamper ourselves.
Anyway, I hope y'all liked this and finally get to see a straight forward review. I myself am glad that I bought this, even with nay sayers. Honestly, if you like brights, leave it behind. If you like pale colors and gentle sweet, girly looks... this is for you.
Is there any interest in videos being made for these or do y'all prefer the pictures and text? I can do either.
